Meet Sherida

Having the birth of your child photographed helps to preserve these precious moments. So understandably I’ve been receiving an overwhelming amount of questions regarding it. While I don’t know the ins and outs of photography. I do know a good photographer when I meet one. Meet Sherida owner of Joli Adore Photography.

What sparked your interest in photography?

I've had a love for photography since I was a teenager. I found myself drawn to candid photographs where the subject is just being themselves and not looking straight into the camera. In 2005, I received my first hand-me-down digital camera from my sister and it changed my life. Like most togs, I started out taking pictures of family and friends for many years as just a hobby. Not ever really thinking I could make a living doing this, I took a hiatus to pursue a career in the medical field as a certified medical assistant and then went on to pursue registered nursing. After having my third baby in 2016, I picked up my camera again, and there was so much peace and fulfillment like I'd never had before. I photographed my first birth shortly after and knew this was what I was created for.

What services do you provide?

I currently offer birth, fresh 48, and lifestyle (in-home) newborn photography. Just give me all the newborns, lol I adore the freshness of the newborn stage and all of their itty-bitty features. They change and grow so quickly I feel it's imperative preserve this. Not to mention the outward transformation that takes place within the parent when they see and interact with that baby - they're in awe. I love it!  I also enjoy capturing lifestyle breastfeeding keepsakes for moms that wish to preserve that fleeting season of their motherhood journey.

What's your favorite type of shoot and why?

Birth...hands-down! This is literally like the thing I was meant to do, but didn't know it was possible. I'm most comfortable in the birthing space. I have a passion for candid, documentary style imagery, which is birth photography in a nutshell. The organic nature, emotion, anticipation, sacrifice, and everything else that comes along with this genre is all worth it when I present the final product to families.

What areas do you serve?

I currently serve the entire Maryland, DC, and Northern VA area. My hope (insert praying hands) is to travel anywhere on the map that my ideal client needs me to in order to document their birth/newborn story. I'm speaking that into existence right now, lol

So, I heard you are available for birth photography. Is this true?

You heard right! Birth photography is what I do full time, which means I'm available all year round. I generally take on 2 birth clients a month. So, the sooner a pregnant mama knows she wants her birth story documented, the greater her chances are of getting her due date locked into my calendar.
